Becoming a beast

There's always a first in everything. And usually they are the ones tattooed on our minds. First crush, first love, first kiss, and of course first fight.

Maria and Darhyl's first fight was because of an undescribable (can be good but more of bad) girl named Isabel. Isabel is Maria's friend whom she used to be close with but due to Isabel's unexplainable problems (can be personal but more of psychological), they started creating a gap between them. Anyway, it all started with the simple 'pa-bridge' style. Isabel, being a close friend of Maria whom she also brought in one of their before bf-gf dates, became close to Darhyl as well. Darhyl started consulting Isabel with his surprises for Maria and even problems of her. In fact, in one of Maria and Darhyl's fights, Isabel had to be the bridge of the two. Maria got hurt that Darhyl talks to Isabel about his problems with Maria. Worse, sometimes Darhyl and Isabel don't mention to Maria that they talk. Darhyl's reason was he was scared that Maria might get mad. While Isabel's reason is too lame to be remembered. The fact that both Maria's boyfriend and close friend didn't tell her about their 'talk' caused Maria to turn into a beast. She got extremely mad about what happened. She suspected Isabel and Darhyl to have a 'thing'. While Darhyl proved that there wasn't something going on between them. Maria still believes Isabel liked Darhyl. She has proofs that Isabel indeed liked Darhyl. For one, Isabel tries be in the spotlight whenever Darhyl is around. Darhyl on the other hand wouldn't like Isabel. Is there a need to describe Isabel to prove that Darhyl is right?

Anyway, was Maria just paranoid? Or did Isabel like Darhyl? I'm guessing it's the second one.

Yes

Questions are meant to figure out or clarify something. There's always an answer for a question, whether it may be vague or indefinite. It can be yes, no, maybe, I don't know or even I don't care. We always don't know the answer to all of our questions, but for sure there are answers to all of them. Asking a question is not always easy. Sometimes, it takes a lot of courage to pop a question.

Darhyl for instance, asked one of the toughest questions every guy or even girl may ask. He had it all planned. It all started after the Ballet Recital of Maria's friend, Regina at CCP. Darhyl watched the recital with Maria. Right after the recital, inside the very cold CCP, Darhyl was sweating. He had to go to the restroom and wash his face. After which, they both went to Harbor Square. They stayed in Figaro for a while before Darhyl brought her back to the place where she will be picked up.

Going to Figaro was awkward for Maria. She felt excited yet nervous for something that will happen later on. She knew something will happen.

They ordered a drink and a Little Oscar. Feeling nervous about what Darhyl may do or say, Maria concentrated on the Little Oscar. She can't look at Darhyl with ease. Darhyl on the other hand wasn't at ease also. He acted like he wanted to do something but he can't. Finally, he said something.. "Put down the fork and listen." Darhyl had to say those words to Maria for her to stop eating and listen to him. It didn't work for long. Darhyl then had to put Maria's right hand on the table. Maria acted comfortable and paid attention to Darhyl like a child.

"When I see you I'm happy, I want to make you happy..." "If you could just give me a chance to make you happy." Darhyl had a very long speech. But in the end, Maria didn't get fully what he wanted to say. Darhyl sort of asked a question, but Maria didn't know how to answer it. They both left Figaro happy confused but happy.

On their way back, Maria held Darhyl's hand. Darhyl did the same thing. She didn't know what or how to answer the vague question of Darhyl, but she believed her action served as the response.

A week after, Darhyl asked Maria if they were together already. They were both confused but they knew that they like the status of their relationship. And yes, they became officially together.

There is always an answer to a query, no matter how vague or late it may be. In the case of Maria, she didn't answer the question of Darhyl directly. She didn't say anything, but her action displayed the response she wanted to give which is "yes".

Levelling Up

A few days after the build, Darhyl invited Maria to eat lunch at Kenny Rogers which is in the middle of their schools. Maria again being shy brought her friend Julia with her. The lunch went fine. It was a little bit awkward, but it was fine. However, there is one thing about their lunch that both of them and even Julia wouldn't forget. And that is the MISSING TOOTH. Darhyl lost his front tooth the day before the scheduled 'lunch'. And because he was worried that Maria would have a bad impression on him, he didn't cancel the 'lunch'. He instead faced and talked to Maria with his hand sometimes covering the thing that is missing.

Darhyl and Maria became good friends. The 'lunch' didn't change anything really. There was no day that passed without a text from the other one. Maria of course playing hard to get always made sure that Darhyl would be the one to text first. Darhyl would go fetch Maria and bring her to the shuttle terminal everytime she has to go home late. Darhyl brought Maria things she likes - flowers, chocolates, mangga with bagoong etc. They became so close that they started being comfortable around each other. Darhyl also had an early chance to meet Maria's cousins at Maria's cousin's party. This was after the High School Dance at Maria's school wherein Darhyl was her date. Darhyl stressed out that Maria didn't ask him to be her date. According to Darhyl, Maria just told him that she is bringing him with her, no questions asked. Of course, it would be too hard on Maria to ask someone out given that she is a girl, instead she demanded.

Start of Something Good

April 24 - 30, 2006
Gawad Kalinga Dingalan Village

Every summer, there are builds in some Gawad Kalinga sites and usually it is a week long program. DLSU offered this program to its students. For some reason, the group of Maria was assigned to that GK village also. Their group arrived at the area one the second day of the build which is a Tuesday. Maria was one of the youngest people there. She was just an incoming 4th year High School student while the rest were all in College. All of the people who volunteered had their own reasons. Most of them or probably all wanted to be part of the GK 1MB (Gawad Kalinga Isang Milyong Bayani). They all wanted to bring change in their country.

The volunteers were paired up and assigned on a particular house which will be their 'home' for the whole week. They were also assigned randomly to a group. Anyway, the volunteers had the chance to mingle with one another. Although they had their own circle when they got there, making new friends wasn't too hard for them. Darhyl from the DLSU group was so friendly to the 'new group' especially to Zyra and Maria. Later did Maria found out that Darhyl likes Zyra. Maria didn't bother and instead took advantage of Darhyl being nice to them.

On the last two days of the build, the group decided to just have fun. On the 6th day, they went to a beach nearby. A few people including Zyra, Maria and Darhyl came up with a game on the shore. They all sat down beside each other forming a human chain They faced the waves head on which made them roll over each other. Maria rolled over Darhyl and injured him cause they were seated next to each other. But the game continued. After a very fun yet tiring day at the beach, they headed back to GK site. On their way back, Maria and Darhyl sat next to each other at the back of the truck, everyone else was there. Maria and Darhyl had the chance to have a personal conversation. They even talked about their families. That night, that conversation, changed their lives. Who knew that it was the start of something good? They started liking each other.

On the last day of the build, they went to the waterfalls. They went hiking just to get there. Darhyl of course acted as a gentleman as he helped everyone climb the rocks. The waterfalls was beautiful. A few minutes after they got there, Darhyl made a way to be alone with Maria. But Maria's too shy so when she was invited to go down the waterfalls, she brought Zyra with her. Anyway, they stayed down the waterfalls for a while and then Zyra left the two alone. Maria and Darhyl were alone and talked about anything under the sun. When the others noticed that the two were having an 'alone time', they broke it and teased both of them.

On their way back to Manila, Darhyl sat next to Maria. He even brought Maria to the bus station where Maria's parents were there to pick her up. They exchanged cell numbers, Darhyl of course initiated. Was he too fast?

Too cute to be straight

I know every girl must have said this line at least once-> 'Sayang, gwapo pa man din siya'.

I myself have said that a lot of times already. My cousin's friend would make you say that line over and over again. He is such a cutie pie. I wanted to sit beside him until... his boyfriend arrived. Who knew that someone as handsome as Paul would be too cute to be a real guy? His complexion was very thrilling, his hair mind-blowing, his eyes blood-tingling and his built was breathtaking. I cannot believe what I saw. Paul is not straight.

Paul and his boyfriend Ben were very sweet to each other. They're like normal couples (they're normal I know, what I mean is normal boy and girl couple). Ben was the one who got them drinks and was the one who pulled Paul's chair when he was about to sit down. Obviously, Ben's playing the male role while Paul got the female role. Unlike other gay couples, they were discreet. I think only a few noticed that they were couples. Of course I did cause I was eyeing on Paul throughout the whole event. I like them actually but I'd still say the line.

Anyway, he amused everyone with his voice. He was like the male version of Susan Boyle. His performance, as one of the 18 talents, made me believe that he is meant to be homo. While he was singing,Ben was very proud. His smile was so big and his eyes were twinkling. When Paul got back to his seat, Ben kissed and hugged him. Ben is really sweet. Ben and Paul are one of the gay couples who are not so bad to look at.

Color me everyday

I grew up in an environment where girls sometimes play the role of the guys. This is due to the extinction of boys in my school. Thus, girl to girl relationships are normal. I myself have been to such relationships, simply because it's the "in" thing. Besides, I was just 12 years old then. And, I discovered my true sexuality when I got into High School anyway. However, some of my batchmates got stuck with their roles when we were in Grade School. Some even started being the "guy" when they reached High School. This trend was probably triggered by instances wherein some of us were obliged to portray male roles in our school plays.

Yes, homosexuality is kind of normal in my school during Grade School Years. I think their 'specie' becomes endangered when they reach High School. I am a living proof. But there are still a lot. It's okay, I am not against that trend really. In fact, I have close friends who are involved in girl to girl relationships or in other words, have ka-ons.

There's just one girl to girl couple in school who we all know are a couple. Why? Because of their looks and everything else. They have the same haircut, hair color, clothes, bags and OMG even cellphones! We thought at first that they are just bestfriends. But no, they kiss when they separate for a while. And when is that you may ask? When one enters a CUBICLE!

I get that they're so inlove with each other but can't they be a little discreet? Why do they have to wear the same clothes everyday! They are so predictable.

And this is their color coding everyday:

Monday- green
Tuesday - blue
Wednesday - pink
Thursday - black
Friday - yellow

**Monthsary - red

Additionally, everday they enter South Gate at 8 am and exit at the same gate at 5pm. High School much.

Hey granny!

This entry is dedicated to my very charming neighbor, Fran.

Fran is my very handsome neighbor who lives a block away from my house. Besides the fact that we live in the same village, I know him because their helper is the sister of our past helper. Those two sisters used to tease me with Fran and because of that, I kind of hoped he'd be knocking on my door with flowers and chocolates. Anyway, it's sad how a boy-next-door would end up nursing an old woman.

He is into this old lady so much that he picks her up at her office everyday then brings her to her place. FYI, that lady lives in Antipolo and Fran lives in Paranaque. No wonder Fran goes home at 2 am. Is she so old that she can't step on a pedal and turn a stirring wheel? Move a muscle old lady! My grandma's stronger than you bitch! Good thing he doesn't bring her to her office. That would be too much. He better get paid.

Please Fran don't make us see you cuddle. I'd rather go to Home for the Aged than watch the two of you!

Irritating. Annoying. Weird. It's just so wrong.

Fran's 24 and granny's 38. It reminds me of the cute and sad song Don't Cry Joni by Conway Twitty. The lyrics of that song is sad but cute while the story of Fran and granny (I won't bother researching her name!) is gross and disappointing.

I just have to insert once again one of the episodes of How I Met Your Mother. In this episode, Robin introduced the guy that he's been dating after Ted, to the group. Knowing that the guy is a few years older than Robin, Ted sees this guy as a very old man when in fact he is not. I feel like I'm Ted. Every time I see his girlfriend, that bitch old lady, I feel like she's as old my grandma.
